Job Description:
SUMMARY
Establishes approved and certified sources of supply and coordinates the purchasing and distribution of raw materials, components, machinery and supplies required in R&D and manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Searches for and coordinates the approval of sources of supply for raw materials, components, equipment machinery and supplies.
Negotiates prices for all purchased items based on target pricing strategies.
Negotiates vendor managed inventory programs with key suppliers.
Works closely with engineering to determine sources for and items needed to support R&D projects.
Establishes short and long-term purchase price variance (PPV) and lead-time improvement plans.
Prepares, coordinates and expedites purchase orders and change notices.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, employees, customers, vendors, and suppliers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates or Licenses
CPIM or equivalent required.
